Salesforce stock has fallen more than 30 percent in 2026, even as its Agentforce revenue grew 205 percent, splitting Wall Street on what that means.
Salesforce shares have fallen more than 30 percent in 2026. That makes it one of the worst performers in the Dow. Yet the AI business at the center of the concern keeps growing fast. This gap, a falling stock price next to improving numbers, is the real story of Salesforce's year.
Salesforce's Q1 fiscal 2027 results beat expectations across the board:
Revenue: $11.13 billion, up 13.3 percent year over year.
Earnings per share: $3.88, beating the $3.13 estimate.
Agentforce revenue: $1.2 billion, up 205 percent.
Combined AI and data revenue: roughly $3.4 billion.
The company also landed major government deals this year. A $1.6 billion contract with the Department of Veterans Affairs runs three years. A separate deal supports a $13.5 billion Air Force vehicle fleet program. Salesforce is also acquiring AI customer service platform Fin for $3.6 billion. The plan is to fold it into Agentforce once the deal closes.
None of that has stopped the stock from falling. Salesforce also finished a $25 billion share buyback, retiring roughly 103 million shares. Even that wasn't enough to lift the price.

Book a Free ConsultationCynoteck covered the start of this story when KeyBanc and Bernstein downgraded Salesforce in early July. Their concern: customer feedback suggested Agentforce wasn't production-ready yet. That skepticism hasn't gone away. CIO surveys still flag Salesforce for weak sentiment. Some analysts say the reported order growth doesn't match what customers are actually telling them.
Other firms see it differently. Goldman Sachs kept its Buy rating in mid-July. Its price target: $242. Goldman expects growth to speed back up once Salesforce shares more detail on AI monetization at its September Agentforce event. This camp reads management's own comments about softness in Tableau, Commerce, and Marketing as honesty, not a warning sign.
The numbers show just how divided analysts are:
Price targets range from $160 to $286.
The consensus average sits near $242, about 55 percent above today's price.
That is an unusually wide spread for a company Salesforce's size.
Salesforce isn't struggling alone. Two separate studies point to the same industry-wide problem:
Forrester and Anaconda found that 88 percent of AI agent pilots never reach production.
Gartner predicts 40 percent of agentic AI projects will be scrapped by 2027 over unclear returns.
Businesses want to land on the right side of those numbers, not the wrong one. Outside help is available through AI services and solutions built to close the gap between a pilot and a real production deployment.
Salesforce's own bets, including its $1 billion AI investment in Switzerland, show where it wants to land. The company is wagering Agentforce becomes one of the pilots that actually works at scale. It does not want to be one that quietly gets shelved.
This is not investment advice. Talk to a licensed financial advisor before making any investment decisions.
For businesses evaluating Salesforce as a vendor, not a stock, here's the real question. Not whether AI agents work in a lab, but how fast they turn into paying, satisfied customers in production. That's the same question every Agentforce buyer should already be asking their own account team.
Salesforce stock has fallen more than 30 percent in 2026, among the worst in the Dow.
Agentforce revenue grew 205 percent to $1.2 billion, and Q1 earnings beat estimates.
Analyst price targets range from $160 to $286, showing real disagreement, not consensus.
New government contracts, including deals with the VA and Air Force, show real enterprise traction.
The split mirrors a wider industry pattern where most AI agent pilots never reach production.
Salesforce's September Agentforce event should bring more clarity for both sides of this debate. Until then, expect the gap between the stock price and the company's own numbers to stay exactly where it is now: unresolved.
